I wonder how it would have turned out had Konami and not Treasure taken the reins.certainly would be missing that RSG boss vibe it had going. Should play Gradius IV and V in due time, can't just abandon the series, now can I? I'm sure I'd love Rebirth and its focus on excessive looping, but I don't own a Wii. Gaiden does have that old-school Gradius look and feel, while V is more of a new-age Gradius, with a more mechanical and cold feel (except for that Salamander stage). And still, I don't feel nearly as comfortable playing with the other ships. Limit is a perfect choice for the Falchion Beta (synergizes splendidly against bosses) and pegboy's constellation for the Jade Knight is simply outstanding (optimizing the effect by putting the Limit in the first spot!), but the Vic Viper doesn't benefit all that much from it. Constructing your ship is like creating a deck, assigning power-up capsules for the shield is a bit like managing mana - if you pick up too many capsules and thus deny yourself the shield during critical situations (Limit in particular) you got a severe case of mana burn (yeah, those infidels abrogated it, I don't care)! The peculiar thing is that I don't consider my set-up to be all that efficient. ![]() Since my nostalgia for (oldschool! '93 and '94 for the win!) Magic is in full bloom right now I couldn't help but think that Gradius Gaiden has a few spiritual similarities. Could've been a 4-ALL, but that's how it works with Gradius Gaiden: sometimes you play astoundingly well during excruciatingly tough parts, sometimes you die over and over on silly checkpoints (several deaths on the plant boss in loop 4, for example). Something more appropriate for this outstanding game! Fitting end for the run, Heaven's Gate (Codename: Scary Core) finished me off considering that he was the major roadblock when I tried to get a 2-ALL before it seems only adequate that he was allowed to deliver the coup de grâce. There are also two entirely new levels an asteroid field and a waterfall stage and four new bosses. Due to the more responsive controls and smoother scrolling, it’s a much better experience than the original version. Perikles - 2,948,490 - 4-8 - Vic Viper - S?ODML - Limit It’s a pretty faithful conversion, with enhanced graphics roughly on the level of Gradius III. This started a domino effect which ended in the colonies around Gradius attacked and most of the planets army in ruins. ![]() But one day, a science vessel disappeared into the Evil Range nebula. No no, no no no no, no no no no, no no there's no limit! Its 200 years into the future and Gradius is prospering.
